The marathon world champion, Martin Fiz, participate in the VI Cross Cabo de Palos (22/07/2014)

It will be this Saturday, July 26, includes novelty upload to Faro and will feature more than 2,000 participants of all ages and a new category for people with disabilities.

All profits will go to charities in the region

The Cross of Cabo de Palos will this year, in its sixth year, with the exception of one participant, world champion Martin Fiz.

This has been one of the developments announced Tuesday during the presentation of the sports event in which the athlete has been accompanied by Council of Sports and Tourism of the City of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, Jose Cabezas and Palazón Carolina, and the mayors of these areas in the municipality of San Javier, Carlos Albaladejo and Antonio Martinez, also the president and coordinator of La Manga Club Athletics, Norberto Martin and Alfonso Martinez.

The La Manga Club Athletics expected to draw more than 2,000 participants of all ages, who will have the opportunity to ride with one of the leading figures of the Spanish athletics.

Martín Fiz won gold in world of 1995, among many other successes, which led him to receive the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports by the Spanish team marathon.

Events like these help to promote athletics, Martin Fiz noted during the presentation, so that more and more riders, especially women, participating in events such as the Cabo de Palos.

In this test, Fiz will face a journey of 6.3 kilometers, which is 1.3 more than in previous years - which include the rise as a new lighthouse.

The race will start at 18.30 for the youngest category -300 meters, while the total output will be starting at 20.00 h.

Prices range from 5 to 12 euros, with discounts for federated athletes.

The collection will take place in the dorsal the English Court of Cartagena on Thursday, 24 17 to 21.30 and Friday October 25 to 14 and from 17 to 21.30.

Those responsible for the organization stressed that the benefits resulting from the registration of participants will go to charities in the county: ASID Cartagena, Aideman, the Spanish Association Against Cancer and The Little Sisters of the Poor.

In this sense, the Councillor for Sports of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, emphasized the fact that the Cross of Cape Palos, which has positioned itself at the top of this type of racing is a unique career and an example of how to combine sport and solidarity tourism.
