IU-Green asked to review the "capricious, despotic and detrimental to the public interest" decision to take the station Mandarache (22/05/2014)

It has filed a motion setting out the economic factors and the defense of the general interest, intermodality, sustainability, environmental quality and the right of citizens to decide the model of city they want to make the project unviable

IU-Greens today called Town Hall revise any action necessary in order to resume the project of adapting existing train station to set it as new city station in agreements with ADIF.

Jaime Cayetano, Municipal spokesperson, explained the factors that make it much more feasible to maintain the current station to the hasty decision to take Mandarache area.

The first is economic, which makes no sense to be chosen by an investment of 25 million compared to another just three.

The second is the defense of general and public interest, questionable and that the City would give away the plot in which the station is projected without by ADIF is no correspondence on the transfer of property owned by the current station or adjacent railway land, and there has been no land reclassification for gains that funded the initial project.

It should also be noted as such an important issue is why the City has to choose revalue private land located next to the proposed station against the equity of public land in the hands of society Casco Antiguo.

Similarly it is incomprehensible that a municipality that intends to implement a project called Ctracción in the Old Town for businesses technological component built on municipal land buildings that combine productive and residential activity and offers as an element of edge to this communication, especially the railway, and its proximity to the center now wants to get the station as close to the historic center and against what is usual in other cities area.

Intermodal is the third factor.

Currently communications by road, rail and narrow gauge are focused on an area that has the advantage of its proximity to the port, which would be altered by the project to bring the station Mandarache.

Option, as the fourth factor, clashes with the sustainability of the project since the PP paree starts from the premise that the shift in Mandarache future station would be through private transport over public and collective, which now reaches road (from Torre Pacheco, Mazarrón and other locations in the District of Cartagena and from La Manga) or narrow gauge (Los Nietos and adjacent beaches and La Union).

Sustainability would also be affected by the absence of any communication project-if a streetcar to join Mandarache and knot current intermodal communications.

In the environmental field (fifth factor), lack of sustainability, with increase in private transportation to the public, the option that the mayor wants to impose, cause more pollution in a city with high levels of quality of air rather than worrying now .

The last factor, but not least, is the question of citizen participation and that can only be considered as a policy perverse interpretation manifests itself despot, imposing a hasty, without social demand unfortunate decision that denies citizen participation in shaping the city and its services.

In this regard, it should be noted that the particular animosity of the mayor with FAVCAC president, who has missed time in reporting to the police, contrasts with its stillness and passivity when accused of biting 600,000 euros and not attending file any complaint.

Therefore only be described as the decision to move the station as policy enforcement and punishment, Caprice front reasoning and support for the private benefit versus public nuisance and the public interest.
