The Roman Theatre joins the party with a visit to book antiquity (22/04/2014)

The Roman Theatre Museum joins the Wednesday morning celebration of the International Day of the Book with linked to literature and ancient activity.

Scripta Manent is a very special visit this landmark of the city beginning at 19.30 hours.

Through an audiovisual piece, explains the importance of libraries in the ancient world as centers of learning, showing the available archaeological information on these buildings and their operation from Alexandria to Rome.

In addition, visitors can see the facilities and collections of the Library of the Museum of the Roman Theatre, where participants will have opportunity to meet with replicas of different types of books (tabulae cerata, volumina) and writing instruments of Greco-Roman world.

The activity will continue for the Museum with a visit where different aspects as the role of Augustus in the promotion of the first libraries in Rome will address the importance of librarians in the cultural education of the young princes, Gaius and Lucius Caesars. The tour will end at the Roman theater with a reading of a classical text.

The activity will be led by Museum staff, Elena Ruiz Valdez and Antonio Muñoz Murcia.
