The tree stars in a sample of awareness that reaches Cartagena (27/03/2014)

This is an exhibition that is part of LIFE + project fly (BigTrees4Life) of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Foundation and hosts until April 10, the former CIM.

This afternoon some information days are organized with the same subject

The traveling exhibition fly: Great Trees for Life à reaches Cartagena hand a conference that aim to sensitize the public on the importance of caring for our flora.

The Faculty of Business, former CIM, hosts this exhibition which runs until April 10.

Part of the LIFE + project fly (BigTrees4Life) of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Foundation, which has been funded by the European Union and the Council of Valencia through the Department of Monumental Trees à IMELSA.

In Cartagena this project has the support of the City and the Polytechnic University.

This afternoon the old Graduate Hall CIM hosts a conference awareness that develop in this program under the title The value of veteran trees and mature forests in safeguarding biodiversity.

Different biodiversity experts will participate in this lecture, as Bernabé Moya, botanist, director of the Department of Monumental Trees à IMELSA of the Council of Valencia and scientific director of the project fly.

This specialist, specifically, will present the strategy of the European Union Biodiversity 2020 and the monumental trees, where the principles and lines of action of the Community Environment Policy will be presented.

This morning, during the presentation of the exhibition and these days, Bernabé Moya stressed the importance of raising public awareness on environmental protection.

He also emphasized the important role that can perform the cypress as a barrier to quell the fire.

Meanwhile, the sample is now exposed in Cartagena tour over the next three years, the main Spanish cities to raise public awareness about the importance of veteran trees and mature forests.

The exhibition is composed of panels and audiovisual materials, and computer graphics, photographs and illustrations by artists such as Fernando Fueyo or Paco Roca especially performed to join the message of conservation of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Foundation and the Department of à trees Monuments of IMELSA .

Thanks to the cooperation of the City of Cartagena, the exhibition includes several specific panels dedicated to arboreal heritage of Cartagena and its associated biodiversity, juniper or cypress Cartagena as a flagship species, and the historical relationship of Cartagena with trees.

As a complement, an interactive display will allow visitors to view their catalog Protection à Monumental trees and sets Arboreals Cartagena, including as PGMO document.

This catalog includes 75 species of trees Monumental comprising the town and two sets on urban land such as the Garden of the balls and the Plaza de la Merced. One of these species most characteristic and important of Cartagena's cypress.

This city has around 7,500 copies in the Sierras.

In addition to the shows and conferences, other initiatives are also organized.

This was explained this morning the director general of the Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente Foundation (FFRF), Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente, who highlighted the performance of teaching units for schools, technical papers singular woodland, scientific conferences on the subject, among others. The aim is to report on the important role of the tree and take measures for their protection, he concluded.

The event today also went Environment Councilman Joaquin Segado, and the Vice Chancellor for Student and University Extension, University of Cartagena, Francisco Martinez.
