Apex Students play basketball with their idols (13/03/2014)

For students of the association apices today was a very special Thursdays.

This morning did not play, as every week, paddle game at the Pavilion, but a meeting with players UPCT Basketball Hall of Cartagena in Cabezo Beaza.

It is an activity that takes place within the ADE Program (Approach to Sport à ‰ lite), coordinated by the Department of Sports.

Thirty students of this group could enjoy this morning of basketball with these athletes who taught them some of the techniques of this modality. With great enthusiasm and energy dared even to challenge the players themselves to a game in which no laughter have been lacking.

One goal is to apex community integration of these mentally ill through activities and workshops such as screen printing and ceramics.

Although also sport sneaks into this agenda, like today, in which basketball became the main character. Were very excited to meet these athletes and see them just enough to get their faces one has commented today Pepa Hernández, director of apices.

One of these students, Maria Isabel Perez, was beside herself with happiness and also, like the rest of his companions, were encouraged to practice this sport during this two-hour meeting.

He had only good words to describe their coaches and teachers: I am very proud of them because every day I teach me something new, such as screen printing.

Some of his teachers, Maite Ruiz and Javier Lozano, also showed proud of these kids and watched intently as his students went after the ball on the track.

Not only the students enjoyed the meeting apex.

Players Chema Albaladejo, Malvasia and Javon Mcgee and sporting director Paco Guillen and trainer, Carlos Gracia, participated in this activity. Important thing is to instill the philosophy of sport and know a little better basketball, explained Albaladejo.

Besides playing basketball with them, the students asked them any questions your day and this small sport becoming reporters for a day.

There was also time to take photos with stars and sign autographs.

Apices is an association for the social inclusion and comprehensive rehabilitation of people affected by mental illness.

It is integrated into the FEAFES Confederation (state and regional) and the Federation of the Region of Murcia.
