Bajan Fire interventions in traffic accidents and increase caused by wind (07/03/2014)

The council Public Safety City of Cartagena, Mariano García, has described the positive balance of the Fire Department in 2013, when he performed 1,453 operations.

This number represents an increase of about 100 for the year 2012.

As highlighted note Garcia noted the decline in traffic accidents interventions.

This decline has been recorded progressively since 2008, in which 220 interventions were recorded for this reason, compared to 154 in 2013.

The head of the Public Safety has blamed the decline to awareness campaigns and the work of the local police that the accident rate has been lowered.

Another highlight is the increase of the interventions caused by weather conditions, such as wind, falling branches or detachment facades.

In contrast, during 2013 remained at levels similar to other years interventions residential fire.

The council has appealed to the conscience of some citizens, engaged incidents of false warnings.

Not that they are a significant number, has pointed out, but generate an unnecessary distraction in the resources that are available to any emergency.

The statements were carried Mariano Garcia before entering the Mass was officiated at the Basilica of Charity to celebrate St. John of God, patron of firemen Cartagena.
