Javier Cercas visit Cartagena with the riddle of who killed whom (06/03/2014)

When a book is like really hard not to be tempted to read the last few pages to see how the knot of the story breaks.

The Laws of the Border tells the story of teenager Ignacio Cañas, in the year 78, whose life changes completely when she meets the Zarco and Tere, two young offenders age.

Thirty years later, a writer decides to tell the story of Zarco and what just is not finding the actual truth of the character but one that concerns us all.

With this work, the society of the 80's that was immersed between fear and hope that time marked by the end of the dictatorship and the unknown future is portrayed, the writer explained this morning in the presentation which was also attending the Youth Councillor, Ruth Collins.

The universal myth of the young offender, which still exists these days is also discussed.

ADOLESCENCE PORTRAYED

It is the first time that Javier Cercas writes a novel about teenagers in which you have to put in the shoes of these kids.

His experience as a father has helped him a lot, but recognizes that adolescence has also inspired him, an era that now qualifies as catastrophic. It's a very critical stage, in which emotions are contradictory and all live very intensely confessed the writer.

It is at that time, in which you discover life itself, the story begins when Javier Cercas through the genre of the novel learning.

It also tells the reader how the characters evolve, although the maturity of which is supposed to have to come to the author, is a Chinese story. Nobody mature, stated strongly and laughs.
