The City, sensitized with Multiple Sclerosis (25/02/2014)

Councilman Social Care, Antonio Calderon, held this morning a meeting with the president of Spain Multiple Sclerosis (EME), Ana Torredemer Marcet, and the president and vice president EMACC (Multiple Sclerosis Association Cartagena and Shire), Pedro Sánchez Hernández and Félix García Jiménez, respectively, where the mayor has received information about the activities and services provided by EME.

During the meeting, he was handed over to Calderón's Annual Report 2013 EMACC, remembering and thanking the support of the City of Cartagena in social awareness campaigns organized in favor of people with this disease.

The visit of the president of EME our city is included in the itinerary being done by all organizations that are federated to this entity, representing a national level, to people affected by MS.

This is a disease of the central nervous system that affects the brain, brainstem and spinal cord.

This is the most common chronic disease in young adults in Europe and the second leading cause of disability in this population, after accidents.

In Cartagena and Shire, at present, there are over 300 people diagnosed with this disease is not contagious, it can not prevent, is not hereditary and is not fatal.
