Cartagena launches a European pilot project to promote youth employment (02/12/2013)

The Town Hall has today welcomed the establishment of the Coordination Commission of the proposed establishment of a Network of Youth Guarantee in Cartagena, built by the City Council, through the Department of Employment and Youth, employers, educational institutions, in this UPCT case and the Polytechnic Institute, and other public institutions such as the SEF or CEEIC.

The mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has presided over the creation of the commission, with the director general of the Employment and Training Service of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (SEF), Alejandro Zamora.

This is an initiative that was launched last year to get funding from the European Commission in order to promote youth employment and finally s and 15 projects have been awarded across Europe, five in Spain, and one is the Cartagena.

According to the Councillor for Employment, Joaquín Segado, which will launch in Cartagena is a pilot project, with 120 young people who be analyzed case by case, making a training route for those who need training to qualify for a job or a schedule of employment.

Thus, three groups were formed.

Then there will be another group of 40 youth at employment demand in the SEF.

And finally, the most important challenge, a group of 20 young people have to go look since neither are in demand and employment are regulated studies, what is known as 'ninis'.

This project is funded almost entirely (95 percent) by the European Commission, amounting to nearly 200,000 euros, and will start next week with a clear objective, which in four months these young people to take a chance, or training or employment.

Mowing noted another long-term goal, that networks of collaboration among agencies involved in this experience have a permanent character and beyond the year-long project, so our young people can have a job.
