UPyD claims the Community to ensure funding for the School of Nursing of Cartagena (17/11/2013)

For the coordinator of Union Progress and Democracy, Rafael Sanchez, the regional government must take "all at once" commitments and meet the investment required for nursing students located in the center of Cartagena have adequate facilities and these studies "retain their public nature and involve a quality service"

The regional coordinator of Union Progress and Democracy, Rafael Sanchez, urges the Autonomous Community to "assume the commitments" and the investment needed to ensure that the School of Nursing located in Cartagena "to fulfill its public nature and bid service quality ".

The School of Nursing of Cartagena is a center of the autonomous community property, but whose classes are borne by the University of Murcia (UMU) through an agreement which becomes affiliated center, although it is now held in a building donated by Polytechnic University (UPCT).

The magenta training coordinator says that the head of the Ministry of Education, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "can not continue to delay a solution to the lack of space and lack of adequate facilities," and must comply with the conditioning of the same ensuring the public nature of the School of Nursing.

In this sense, Rafael Sánchez insists that the lack of funding and cuts in public universities' future remain the region "and claims that they suffer a decrease in their budgets for 2014 of 4.7%, about 8 million euros, which in his opinion is "very negative and damaging".

Also remember that the electoral program of study UPyD demanded the abolition or merger of grossly underutilized centers and also study merging public universities "for best equipped centers, more competitive and better integrated into the national and international levels" .

Furthermore, in the case of training of health personnel, UPyD holds that the state solely responsible for the accreditation of new professionals, and advocates the creation of a Spanish Health Training Agency under the Ministry of Health and Community participation regions.

Rafael Sánchez highlights the problem that is occurring in the nursing area, since the current labor market situation can not accommodate about 900 registered nurses each year.

"It should be launched professionalization by professional accreditation systems, with objectives and selection mechanisms to ensure the allocation of places based on criteria of merit and ability" and must extend to all areas of procurement.
