Navarro (local police and security expert criminologist) |

More and more conscious people to use the bicycle or bus as a means of transport, economy and sustainability in circulation.

Especially in the cities, where they offer a solution to the problems of traffic and parking, as well as representing a healthy alternative cheaper than other means of transport.

To raise awareness of mobility in cities, and awareness of cycling and public transport, since last until next 16th September 22 (World Day without car) celebrates the European Mobility Week, which aims are:

Promote the use of forms of transportation and travel alternatives to the private car.

Raise awareness and inform citizens about the current status of long-term mobility in cities and the risks associated with contamination.

Provide a different view of the city due to the restriction of motorized traffic in certain areas of the city.

Cartagena offers an extensive network of cycle paths, where as a rule will be the place of passage and movement of bicycles, can cross the city within minutes to two wheels from the port to the English Court.

Although we often irregularly circular cyclists undue areas in Cartagena, are obliged to respect all traffic rules, behaviors being punished for violations, by the Rules of the road and Municipal Traffic Ordinance.

If there is no bike lane, cyclists should use the side of the road, sticking in the way as possible to the right side of the road and remembering that you are forbidden to drive on the sidewalks and pedestrian areas, a fact that we are tired of seeing in Doors downtown streets as Murcia or Calle Mayor.

Unfortunately, bicycles are involved in numerous accidents in the city of Cartagena, caused mainly by not respecting the lateral distance when overtaking made by car drivers or cyclists that do not respect the traffic rules.

It is also worth noting that when riding a bicycle must not forget a number of precautions or measures to take to avoid

1. - Beware of Intersections

Two. - Try to see and be seen

Three. - Use proper lanes, especially in city

April. - Safely Frena

May. - Circulates in group only if you've planned well

June. - Advances only if you can

July. - Watch the weather

August. - Respect the distances

9. - The passenger also helps the driver

10. - Drive without headphones

It is important to mention two bicycle safety elements, which while not required are exceptional because they favor the passive safety.

The helmet: Although only is mandatory helmets on interurban roads, personally, I recommend using it, as it can prevent serious injury in the event of unwanted accidents.

Reflective clothing: It is always advisable to wear vests and other reflective armbands do to other users that become aware of our presence.

ON THE BUS

Once you stop, if you see the bus get you interested, try to make a hand signal to the driver to indicate your intentions to raise.

If they match multiple lines at the same stop and your bus arrives after another, you should approach him to take it.

Do not try to catch the bus when it is stopped, or when it is closing the door to start the march.

For security reasons, do not forget that at stoplights, however close they are to downtime is not allowed to pick up passengers.

For safety, never cross in front of a bus
