Port of Cultures will show students the history of the City (18/09/2013)

Coinciding with the beginning of the school year, Cartagena Port of Cultures alongside Roman Theatre Foundation, have launched proposals and activities for students of all levels, from kindergarten to high school, in order to raise awareness, to through recreational and educational activities, some major architectural remains of the city, and bring students of history, from the classroom to the place where important historical events occurred.

Brand new for this course are twofold.

In the neighborhood of the Roman Forum, Explorers on the windlass, allow elementary students become young explorers to discover, through clues and evidence, how the Romans enjoyed a day at the spa or a large banquet to fall night at Carthago Nova.

And the second proposal will be held in the Museum of the Roman Theatre.

On Qart Hadast to Carthago Nova, the lumnos to Middle and High School will review the history of classical Cartagena, from the foundation by the Carthaginians to the splendor of the Roman period.

On the other centers of Puerto de Culturas, the Punic Wall Qart offer Discover Hadast activity aimed at students of Nursery, Primary and Secondary, which will transfer you to the origins of Cartagena to know who were Hasdrubal, Hannibal and Scipio Africanus, and how was the Punic city.

For its part, the Roman Theatre Museum will host three activities: Build the Roman city, for elementary students, where the students will learn the most important buildings of the ancient Carthago Nova, who build themselves through a model. Maccus, Pappus and other stars of the show, aimed at primary school children, the kids turn to researchers for a few hours, reeling the mysteries of the theaters of ancient Rome, from its architecture and functions to how actors were coordinated or how they represented the shows.

And Plautus's Workshop.

Art, politics, religion and recreation, for Middle and High school, learn about the development of art, politics, religion and leisure around in Roman theaters.

In the Castillo de la Concepción, with different activities tailored to each cycle, students from Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary can participate in a trip to the Middle Ages through the castle itself, where you will learn about the customs of society medieval and lifestyle, and may participate in dances and traditional dances of the time.

The Fort Christmas will be the scene of an Assault on Fort Christmas, aimed at primary and secondary students, and in which, coming through the tourist boat, meet the strategic and military importance of Cartagena along its history.

The contemporary era comes on the heels of the proposed Building Peace in the Shelter-Civil War Museum, for primary and secondary school, with which, knowing the consequences of war, students appreciate and work by and for a peaceful world through an artistic expression such as drawing.

Both students and teachers have available through the website of Cartagena Port of Cultures sheets each of these workshops and activities together to work them both before, during and after your visit.

Many activities have been organized in collaboration with the Centre for Language and Communication of Cartagena, with a duration ranging from one and a half to four hours, and a cost ranging between 3.5 and 10 euros.
