The Civil Guard detained a group of young people for the theft of copper wire lighting (16/09/2013)

The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, in the framework of "Plan Provincial Copper Theft" and after a complex investigation, have arrested four members of a boy band, two of them minors, suspected of crime of burglary for the theft of copper wiring lighting of Santa Ana-Cartagena.

They have recovered eight kilograms of copper wire had been stolen and then sold in a junkyard in the region, and have been brought to justice.

The Meritorious research began to be aware of the lack of lighting on public roads in the hamlet of Santa Ana Cartagena, facts that came to cause alarm among the neighbors, leaving the dark one of the gateways to the town , N-301a.

Evidence obtained during the investigation process led to agents specialized in safety prevention, to a group of youths who allegedly were behind the authorship of the subtractions.

Modus operandi

The authors took advantage of the night time and the lack of activity on the street to commit their "hits".

In order to not be detected by neighbors or the Civil Guard, performed the commission of the offense in the shortest time possible.

To do this, lifted the protective caps of records and public lighting collectors, They performed a cut in the trolley wire and ripped.

Subsequently sold the material in a junkyard.

The result of the investigations carried out and once identified the young band members, officers began a search that culminated, in recent days, with the location and arrest of four persons allegedly responsible for the crimes investigated.

Meanwhile, the policemen recovered a recycling metal waste eight kilograms of copper wire whose value, together with the damage to the robberies, more than 12,000 euros.

Detained

The Civil Guard has proceeded to the arrest, suspected of the crime of robbery, the four members of the boy band of Spanish nationality and aged between 19 and 14 years.

Seized

As part of the performances have been recovered eight kilograms of copper wire from the lighting of the N-301a, at the height of the parish of Santa Ana Cartagena, whose value, together with the damage to the facility, exceeds 12,000 euros.

The detainees, seized property and proceedings have been made available to the magistrate No. 4 of Cartagena (Murcia) and Office of Children of Murcia.

The investigation remains open, not ruling out further arrests or involvement of the band disbanded in other crimes.
