Alarcón reiterates that Rosell Hospital "is a needed center for the area of ​​Cartagena and is not going to close" (27/08/2013)

Managing Director Murciano Health Service (SMS), José Antonio Alarcon, reiterated the importance it has and will continue the University Hospital Santa Maria del Rosell, Cartagena, inside the hospital complex that forms with the St. Lucia University General Hospital, in health area II, which covers the municipalities of Cartagena, La Unión, Fuente Álamo and Mazarrón.

Alarcon was blunt in response to statements made in recent days by the PSOE in Cartagena, in stating that "the hospital is not going to close, Health is not planning Rosell closure. This is the umpteenth time I have to repeat that the Rosell not closed ".

The manager explained that since opening the Hospital Santa Lucia, two years ago, the Health Area II is unique in the region of Murcia and has two hospitals.

Furthermore, since it opened the new Hospital of Los Arcos, the area's population dropped by more than 100,000.

Alarcon said that "its current population of 270,000, for which Health has two hospitals that need to be supplemented to provide the best possible care."

Since St. Lucia has developed his care, management is at all times the most appropriate study to combine healthcare between the two centers of the area.
