Citizens Movement welcomes the consolidation works in San Gines de la Jara (23/08/2013)

Cartagena Citizens Movement (MC) wants to publish it after numerous citizen complaints, it was determined that the city of Cartagena, as the owner is, restart the work to consolidate the Monastery of San Ginés de la Jara, after two months and seven day break.

Keep in mind that this monastery declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) in February 1992, is in serious danger of ruin and has been plundered without mercy, so that until the Ombudsman has been asked by the government channel City to comply with conservation and restoration phases of the project undertaking is presented at the time for this purpose.

With the start of these works of consolidation, the City of Cartagena meets its legal obligations, as I have urged repeatedly to do over time different associations, groups and individuals interested in heritage protection, and particularly the Monastery of San Ginés de la Jara, as the Ombudsman or Citizen Movement itself, among others, demonstrating at all times this consistory intolerable laxity.

These works, according to Councilman Jose Lopez, "should be the first step to rebuild and final enhancement", also achieving "the place where we honor the patron saint of Cartagena, which brought together wills both Catholics and Muslims, remains a pole of cohesion for the entire region of Cartagena ".
