The Pilgrimage of San Ginés de la Jara turns 30 (21/08/2013)

Nearly four miles of wagons and carriages accompany the saint on Saturday August 24 starting at eight o'clock, on a pilgrimage open to all and organized by the Brotherhood of the Romeros, who is thirty years and has planned many activities parallel throughout the weekend

The carts and carriages are finalizing their preparations placing the last ornaments to celebrate what will be the XXX edition of the Pilgrimage of San Ginés de la Jara, which goes through the streets of the city and in several locations in the Campo de Cartagena on Saturday 24 August.

The program of events was presented this morning by the councilor of Celebration, Florentina Garcia, who was accompanied by the president and the secretary of the Brotherhood of San Ginés Romeros, Andrés García and Trinidad Osete, respectively.

The mayor of Celebration, which also will be the godmother of the Brotherhood, an appointment which was received with great enthusiasm, highlighted the work and effort of all those working to make this pilgrimage continue taking to the streets every year, and that increasingly has more followers.

Proof of this is that there are almost four miles of carriages, wagons and horses.

The starting signal, continued Garcia, will be at eight o'clock, when the pilgrims are concentrated in the Basilica of Charity to make a wreath to the patron Cartagena.

Charity will be from the street, from which the pilgrims start their journey that will continue for Merganser, López Pinto, Ã ngel Bruna, Alfonso XIII, Juan de la Cosa, Jacinto Benavente, Esparza and Ingeniero de la Cierva.

Throughout their journey, the pilgrimage made numerous stops on the way to the Cartagena, and all those who join this party, to express the fervor for the image of the pattern of Cartagena.

So, at 09.00 am in the Parish of Saint Ginés de la Jara will be another wreath, and after her courtship continue for Painter Portela, Bridge Avenue Torreciega and Titus Didius.

There will be three more stops, preceding the arrival in Cartagena: at 11.30 pilgrims will be received by the Association of Residents of La Aparecida, at 13.30 hours arrival at the Ermita de Roche where there will be a wreath, and savor a giant paella and the classic melon to refresh Grandfather palates, and finally, at 17.30 hours, will be received by the Association of Residents of Los Camachos which also enjoy a small snack.

The pilgrims take Torreciega Bridge on 19.15 hours, continuing Portela Painter Avenue, Paseo Alfonso XIII, and Alameda St. Anton where will head, and for the third year running, the exhibition festive Carthaginians and Romans, located in Cartagonova Municipal Stadium.

This is a pilgrimage for all, stressed Andrew, and I encourage all citizens to join in this celebration and enjoy the great atmosphere.

It has also been put on the table the importance and the collaboration of the Security Forces of the State will ensure the safety and welfare of persons accompanying the saint.

The XXX edition of the Pilgrimage of San Ginés de la Jara is organized by the Brotherhood of San Ginés Romeros, and sponsored by the city of Cartagena, Toni Fashion, Fabrics Santa Ana, Melons El Abuelo, Spar and CajaMurcia Upper Group.

Romeri SIDE EVENTS TO A

Along with the Pilgrimage of San Ginés de la Jara to be held on Saturday 24, the Brotherhood of the Romeros, the Guild and the parish of San Ginés de la Jara, have organized a series of events evenly to the feast of the saint.

On Friday 23, at 20.30 pm, will take place the wreath and food to Caritas.

In addition, all attendees can go dressed in traditional costumes of Cartagena.

Next, hold the opening speech, officiated by Ernesto Ruiz.

The festivities culminate on Sunday 25th with Mass at seven o'clock, and then the image of San Ginés leave in procession.

On arrival at the temple, will sell traditional bread rolls San Ginés, giving themselves benefits St. Paul Center Caritas of Sorrows.
