The Underwater Cultural Heritage Spanish is the theme of this contest, the Association of Friends of the Museum, in collaboration with the City of Cartagena, and those interested in participating have until November 15 to submit your photos
AdARQUA, the Friends of the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology ARQVA, with the cooperation of the City of Cartagena, has launched the First Underwater Photography Contest: AdARQUA UW, in order to UNAR the diving world with the underwater archeology.
This contest, whose theme is the Spanish Underwater Cultural Heritage, irrespective of the territory on which it is located, is aimed at people of all countries, whether professional or not.
Each participant may submit up to 5 photos before November 15th through the registration form found on the website of the Association, together with the rules of the competition.
Organized into six categories and a cash prize for the winning photo of 500 euros, the contest will end with an exhibition of photographs finalists in the temporary exhibition hall ARQVA.
The aim is to promote the understanding, dissemination and awareness of the Underwater Cultural Heritage and the work of the professionals involved.
Photography is a cornerstone of the Underwater Archaeological two important aspects: the documentation and dissemination.
After excavation, will be drawings and photographs by which archaeologists to reconstruct the original state of the site and the only ones that preserve the context in which the pieces were found.
Moreover, and by using the cliché that a picture is worth a thousand words, it is true that the expressiveness, the rigor and beauty of photography is a superb vehicle for the enhancement of underwater heritage.
That's why from the Museum ARQVA and AdARQUA collaboration with its association of Friends, for organizing the event, has emerged this initiative underwater photography contest, with the support of the Federation of Underwater Activities Region of Murcia and the city of Cartagena.
