The Foundation Repsol will contribute 4.1 million for the excavation of the windlass (12/07/2013)

The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, announced that next week l will materialize the signing of an agreement between the city of Cartagena and the Foundation Repso l, which latter 4,149,755 euros financed project completion Pinwheel Archaeological Park .

With the signing of this agreement, which was approved this morning the local government board, will complete the excavation of the area of the Roman Forum and the creation of the interpretation center of the Archaeological Park.

Excavation work and development are planned in four phases with completion scheduled for 2017.

Phase 1.

Sector 1: island I and driveways

The estimated budget for Phase 1 amounts to 574 720 euros, anticipating for execution within approximately 9 months and an area of 723 m2.

Phase 2.

The objective is to recover the sanctuary of the island II annexed to the insula I, and the adjacent road network.

The estimated budget for Phase 2 amounts to 940 460 euros, anticipating to run an approximate time of 12 months and an area of 1092 m2.

Phase 3.

Sector 3: Forum upper terrace (Capitol)

It pursues the recovery and value of a raised terrace on which the temple was to rise presiding forum colony.

The estimated budget for Phase 3 is of 916 895 euros, anticipating to run an estimated time of 12 months and an area of 1,139 m2.

Phase 4.

Sector 4: Lower Terrace Forum (curia and square).

The aim of the forum is the recovery of the colony and the implementation of the Interpretation Centre, which will house the permanent collection of the Archaeological Park and centralized infrastructure for its operation and maintenance.

The estimated budget for Phase 4 is 1.71768 million euros, with an approximate time of 18 months and an area of 1,265 m2.

OTHER AGREEMENTS OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

In other matters, the Board of Governors has approved the signing of an agreement with the Faculty of Law of Albacete, University of Castilla-La Macha, for students of that institution can do internships in the offices of the consistory Cartagena.

The City has already signed such agreements with the three universities in the region (UMU, UPCT and UCAM) and others from the rest of Spain.
