Juan Carrasco, new president of Asido (11/06/2013)

Juan Carrasco, newly elected president of Assido Cartagena (Association for Comprehensive Care of People with Down Syndrome), met this morning with the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, at a meeting of formal character for submission to the first municipal authority , which has attended accompanied by Vice President of the association, Santiago Lopez, and the manager, Carmen Vargas-Machuca.

After the visit, Carrasco commented that the mayor has always been very responsive to our requests, so we asked him to continue as usual, trying to get our voice to other administrations.

For the new president of Assido, if it is true that society is wrong because of the cuts, these doubly affect the most disadvantaged groups.

As regards this association, Juan Carrasco noted that one of the main problems they face is that the economic agreement whereby the Autonomous Community aid destined to the full integration of children with Down syndrome in schools , has been reduced by 60 percent in the past two years.

In the end, said Carrasco, the main need of this association, like any other social, money, is an economic problem.
