Recognition and quality of life in the World Day of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (13/05/2013)

To celebrate the 1st May 2 of the celebration of World Day for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, today, at the gates of the Regional Assembly, AFRIBOCAR Association (Association of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and District of Cartagena ) has read the X Manifesto in which he claimed, once again, the full recognition of the disease and improving the quality of life of patients.

Along with the president of AFRIBOCAR, Maleni Jimenez, and Secretary of the same, Rosalia Espí, have been the president of the Regional Assembly of Murcia, Francisco Celdran, the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and Social Care Councillor Antonio Calderon.

Some 6,000 Cartagena, in the words of Jimenez, suffer from this chronic disease and its main symptoms general fatigue and pain.

It affects other areas of the body, so we often suffer from irritable bowel, dry syndrome, sleep problems or memory. Collects is a syndrome because the symptoms of various diseases, underscores the president.

During the reading of the Manifesto and in order to achieve minimum safeguards for patients, have highlighted four priorities: Universal Access to Public Health and Social System, research, respect for the disease and the creation of multidisciplinary units.

In addition to the Regional Assembly, where there has been the main event, AFRIBOCAR information tables installed in different health centers: Hospital General Universitario de Santa Lucia, Hospital General Universitario Santa Maria del Rosell, Los Dolores, Slum Conception, The Parcheesi, Mazarron, Puerto de Mazarron and La Union.

In addition, there are also installed another in El Corte Ingles.

After reading the Manifesto of 2013 which also have heard the words solidarity, tenderness or fairness, have been released balloons symbolizing the end of a day in which fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome have been noticeable in the city.

Day to day, this association works in the field of information, but also in psychological support. Moreover, there are various relaxation workshops such as yoga or Tai Chi. Way, from AFRIBOCAR recognizes the work undertaken by these associations to that the rights of patients to be recognized, while patients encourage the District of Cartagena to attend these social entities.

And, fibromyalgia affects people's lives in areas as routine as work or the development of a normal family life.

The activities of the World Day of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue are organized by AFRIBOCAR, in collaboration with the city of Cartagena, the Regional Assembly and the Municipal Volunteer Program.
