A lesson on the importance of recycling clothes, shoes or toys (02/04/2013)

The Association has submitted Abraham Project in Garden City College of Cartagena its latest environmental education campaign, not the tires, give it to me, to the councilors who attended the Education and Environment, Josefa Maroto and Palazón Carolina.

Cartagena City Council works with this initiative which aims to promote the recycling of waste in general and of apparel, footwear and toys in particular. Palazón words, it is important that awareness of the environment starts in schools.

The Abraham Project Association is a center for immigrants and people at risk of social exclusion, as explained María José Chumillas, secretary of this social entity.

Thanks to this campaign, citizens can see first hand what happens to the clothes and placed in containers for serving these residues.

These briefings are aimed primarily at children aged 5 and 6 primary and so far three Cartagena centers have joined this initiative. Usually last an hour and begin with a presentation on the consequences of climate change.

Then, children are invited to participate, contributing their own ideas on how to respect nature.

Chumillas has clarified that not only awareness is important.

And, thanks to this campaign highlights that through waste management remains a social structure that can help the most disadvantaged.

Some 146 people have participated in this campaign through lectures developed in 7 major centers of Cartagena.

In addition, in collaboration with the Coordinating Centers are scheduled Cartagena Over several visits to the trough Ecopark, with the aim of involving older people in the recycling.
