Tourism Councillor calls "political myopia socialist criticism to attract European tourists convention for over 55 years" (07/02/2013)

The Councillor for Tourism, Palazón Carolina, considers "the PSOE spokesman exhibits high myopia when he criticizes the subsidy policy of the City of Cartagena for the municipality is destination of European tourists over 55 years."

Palazón states that the total contribution of 10 euros per tourist who accepts that program has to provide any municipality that is postulated as the recipient of this kind of tourism.

"Not only brings Cartagena, but all municipalities of Andalusia or the Costa Brava that receive such European tourists."

The councilor stressed that the PSOE has skipped a very important paragraph of the agreement, which refers to the promotional campaign worth 144,000 euros to be done in the Manga and the Mar Menor to be carried out in six countries "only with this campaign are more than 10,000 euros amortized grant provided by the City of Cartagena "added Palazón for whom the priority is to enter the circuit of cities receiving offseason to such tourists, because this year may reach 2000 but it is expected that the number is increasing every season.

Palazón Carolina considers those 10,000 euros well spent because the municipality promoted as a tourist destination in Europe and help break the seasonality, especially in the area of La Manga which is an economic boost during the winter for the services sector in the area.

"The question that the Socialist Party would be saying if Cartagena had not become part of that circuit and foreign tourists come in winter to other municipalities in the Mar Menor but not ours" said the councilor.
