The Family of Pascual Duarte, in the New Theatre Circus (23/01/2013)

The Family of Pascual Duarte, novel by Nobel Prize Camilo José Cela, who is on tour in Spain, will be performed on Thursday January 24 at the Nuevo Teatro Circo de Cartagena, at 21.30 hours, in the programming the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.

The stage version of this work coincides with the seventieth anniversary of the publication of the novel and the first ten years of the death of Camilo Jose Cela. Led by Gerardo Malla, the cast includes Miguel Hermoso, Lola and Ana Otero Baldrich , among others.

Also, this is the last show produced by Thomas Gayo, before he died in Mexico earlier this year.

Pascual Duarte, a native of Torremejía (Extremadura) recounts his life while awaiting his own execution in the cell on death row.

Victim of an inexorable fate, this farmer, and son of an alcoholic, is dominated by violence, known only response to betrayal and deception.

A sinister appearance that hides his inability to fight the evil of others.

The story takes place between 1882 and 1937, years in which the socio-Spanish policy was marked by a climate of profound instability.
