SPCT requires quick action plan oldest schools in Cartagena (13/01/2013)

The policy of public spending cuts by local and regional governments of the PP can cause an alarming deterioration in the overall facilities and publicly owned buildings.

The case of the collapse of a floor in a College of Santa Pola, highlights the need for an urgent review of public facilities, especially education, emphasizing the oldest buildings.

In our municipality there are a large number of public schools that were built in the 70s, and some dating back to the 50s and 60s.

In this situation, changing windows, doors and coatings is not enough to ensure the safety of the buildings, so from SPCT demand the implementation of a Comprehensive Review of the public buildings in our town.

The plan proposed to revise not only superficial elements, but structural to ensure the tranquility of the citizens.

Schools like San Ginés de la Jara in Llano del Beal, Puig Campillo de Isla Plana, part of San Fulgencio in Pozo Strait or Miguel de Cervantes in Aljorra, or San Isidoro-Santa Florentina in Cartagena that outweigh more than half a century the building.

Also the bulk of the provincial public schools date from the '70s, the Luis Vives in Albujón, the CP of Aljorra, Santa Florentina de la Palma or the Santiago Apostol de Miranda among others.

From SPCT consider urgent undertake this plan, and so we will apply in writing to the City Clerk of the City.
