The Community earmarked 525,000 euros for the restoration of eight facades in Cartagena in 2012 (03/01/2013)

The Ministry of Public Works and Land allocated a total of 525,000 euros last year's program adaptation and restoration of facades, roofs and walls in the city of Cartagena.

The said program aims heritage recovery values, meaning and character of the property surround by their intrinsic and architectural interest deemed appropriate protection and conservation.

The Directorate General of Land and Housing initiative developed since 1996 for the enhancement of the hallmarks of urban residential architecture that characterizes the city of Cartagena, they constitute a set of great value that prints a character to the urban fabric city.

Since then he has acted in property through financing agreements by which the Community subsidizes 25 percent of the investment.

The actions that are performed on the facades, roofs and medians of the buildings are designed to add value to its essential features and characteristics, removing or replacing elements distorting their own identity.

Balance Plan 2007-2013 facades in Cartagena

Currently the Autonomous Community is developing a new phase of the agreement on the program of fronts ranging from 2007-2013, whose investment already made in Cartagena amounts to EUR 2.76 million and the grant is EUR 2.07 million.

During the annuity 2012, currently running, the program of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning is acting in six properties located in the streets Four Saints, Sagasta and Jara, having already completed the two remaining streets and Air Staff.

During the development of the program have been made up works in property situated in the streets Castellini, Villamartin, Santa Florentina, San Francisco, Four Saints, Honda, Puertas de Murcia, Saura, Serreta, Air, Andino, Canyon and butchers.

The Council stresses the importance of these buildings as a sign of eclectic and modernist residential architecture that characterizes and identifies the historic center of Cartagena, as compositional criteria of the facades, the type and proportion of the voids, the configuration and design of balconies and gazebos, ornamental motifs or materials used make up the city's image and most significant feature of the city.
