They claim equality in the field at the Third Conference of Rural Women (15/10/2012)

Claiming the role of women in the field.

à ‰ This is one of the objectives of the Third Day of Rural Women, which was held this morning at the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Sciences of the Company, to celebrate the International Day of Rural Women.

The talks, which this year has been devoted to science, have started with an address by the president of AFAMMER, Carmen English, in which he praised the work of women in rural and claimed their role against the stereotype that indicates that rural women have little initiative.

At the opening ceremony the mayor participated Pilar Barreiro, President of the National Association XXI Century Research Students, Ernesto Caballero, the director general of Irrigation, Julio Bernal and the Councillor for Women, Clara Heredia.

The first municipal authority has highlighted the work AFAMMER, the Association of families and women in rural areas of the Region of Murcia, to achieve equality in rural areas. Were becoming aware that rural women have higher expectations than those been given so far, he said.

In this aspect, Barreiro has said that for her it's no surprise that this year the conference will dedicated to science because AFAMMER always has worked in research, science and progress on farms.

The conference entitled the Hut of Science, includes a program of activities to be held in Cartagena and other cities in the region, organized by the Department of Women of the City of Cartagena, the Association of Family and Women in Rural the Region of Murcia (AFAMMER), the Equality Unit of the National Association UPCT and Research Students Siglo XXI.

From 15 to 18 October, rural women will attend various retreats and workshops.

Women will discuss the relationship between science and women as well as environmental and ecological agriculture.

Also taught two workshops, one on October 17 in Santa Ana on Nutrition Eating Well for this summer, and another on October 18 on the Chemistry Totana hidden in the kitchen.

The Barraca of Science is a project initiated by the National Association of Students and Researchers CENTURY which has financial support from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
