The City Council launches a new management model for Sport (02/07/2012)

Two themes have focused today the plenary debate of the Municipal Corporation, one of them, the dissolution of the Municipal Sports Board, included between the points of the agenda , and the other on the record of the Residential New Gate, because of a joint motion for local groups of the opposition.

With respect to PMD, full dissolution approved with votes against the mixed group, Citizens Movement, the United Left and PSOE, who have based their opposition on the lack of reasons for this decision.

Jose Lopez, MC spokesman, expressed his disappointment about the abolition of the Board, alleging that there are no reports showing that this will save the city coffers and a benefit to citizens.

Meanwhile, IU spokesman, Jaime Cayetano Molto, has defended his position against the dissolution stating that what works is not right to touch him, and after two decades running, the PMD has shown that its management is good and its deletion could affect the supply and quality of services it provides.

As for the Socialist group, his spokesman, Charity Rives, impacted on the Board is an organ of involvement, not just management, hence the close down strong opposition to it.

In response, Councillor for Sports, José Cabezos, wanted to make clear the reasons for the dissolution of the Municipal Sports, the most appropriate decision in these times, assured the mayor, who pointed out that criteria have been followed expenditure savings and thinning of municipal structures, avoiding duplication, promoting greater transparency, and maintenance services without privatizing or remove subsidies and staff, which now becomes dependent on the Department.

Seamount has praised the work of the Board, with Eduardo Armada front, but believes it is time of change, changes to which are adapted sports clubs of the city in addition to local effort, getting that overtime has been reduced by 59 percent from 2011 to 2012.

There are currently over 70 municipal sports facilities (including pavilions, soccer fields, running tracks, gyms, etc..) And taught 38 different activities, which has over 30,000 users.

NEW RESIDENTIAL DOOR

Another issue that has captured the full attention, including in this case in the order of motions, requests and questions , was a joint motion by the opposition groups, requesting the establishment of a commission of inquiry into performance of the government team in relation to file transfer, monitoring and control of the Residential New Gate.

Both the mixed group, Citizens Movement, as IU and PSOE, consider that on this record there are too many doubts and questions unanswered, so called for the creation of this committee, an initiative that has finally come forward to have voted not to the urgency of the same.

The popular local group's spokesman, Francisco Espejo, has defended the transparency with which it has performed and pointed out that the municipal government is the one who has claimed the money to New Gate and brought him to court, ensuring that we will not enter the circus media has opposition mounted by allying to take political advantage.

Around this same issue, the opposition groups have filed a battery of questions which were answered on the same line by the popular group's spokesman.

The discussion of other motions also has resulted in the declaration of no urgency.

This applies to the motion of the socialist group requesting payment of property tax on buildings of the Catholic Church and other faiths that are not for worship.

PP councilor, José Cabezos, has responded by listing all the institutions that are exempt from property tax, not just the Church, such as barracks, schools, embassies, sports federations, NGO offices or SGAE as well remember the social work carried out by the Church and they seem to forget some political groups.

Another motion was rejected whose urgency has been the UI on the intervention of local police in the eviction of a home in Los Mateos, showing that the Public Safety Councilman Mariano Garcia has defended ensuring that it complied with a court order and use the minimum force.
