Afibrocar holds its first Solidarity March (03/05/2012)

On 12 May, World Day of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the association, with the assistance of the City, which commemorated with a city tour and reading a manifesto to raise public awareness about the disease

May 12 is a date set for Cartagena 6,000 affected by fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and which marks the World Day of these diseases, and for this reason, Afibrocar, with the collaboration of the Department of Social Care and other institutions and public and private entities, organized Afibromarcha.

Councilman Rhea, Antonio Calderon, President of the Afibrocar, Magdalena Gimenez, have been responsible for presenting today the first march of solidarity that will tour the city, leaving from the door of El Corte Ingles and arrival in the Square City Hall where, at the gates of the Palace Hall, will read a manifesto.

Calderon has taken the opportunity to invite all citizens to participate in this march, which also can work with a donation of 1 euro by joining the tables will be placed on 10 and 11 May at the Hospital of Rosell, Mediterranean Area and El Corte Ingles.

Meanwhile, the President reminded the target Afibrocar of such acts, which is none other than go out and raise public awareness about a disease that is there, while raising funds to develop projects that will improve quality of life of those affected by these diseases.

These projects include the Multidisciplinary Unit to get Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in all the Autonomous Communities.

Magdalena Gimenez claimed that in Cartagena, we can boast of a query from a year ago, at the Hospital of Saint Lucia, dedicated to the care of patients with this disease, and which have already served about 80 queries.

In the region, are about 40,000 people affected by these diseases, and opened a research line in the Arrixaca to study the immune system of these patients.

Through research, can know the causes of the disease and thus find appropriate treatments, hence efforts focus on it, stood Gimenez, who also thanked the City Council their willingness to help whenever the Association has named their door.

The 1 st Afibromarcha leave at 9.30 am the door of El Corte Ingles, on the Alameda de San Anton, to stay on the Alameda, Plaza of Spain, Calle Carmen, Puerta de Murcia, Mayor and City Hall Square.
