The awareness campaign and monitoring of distractions while driving, which has developed between days 5 to 8 March organized by the Traffic Department in collaboration with the local police, has resulted in 34 complaints concerning mobile phone use and three reports of other offenses which cause distraction while driving.

The officers stopped to 1,681 vehicles from 5,946 controlled and found that 380 drivers used hands-free devices.

The Local Police of Cartagena joined this campaign to control and educate citizens, not just the misuse of mobile phones while driving, but also the danger that involves other distractions, such as manipulation of the browser or the radio and smoking while driving.
