The City Council placed defibrillators in three municipal buildings (26/01/2012)

The idea of putting defibrillators devices in municipal buildings, easy to use and calling to save lives in emergency situations arose at City Hall two years ago and continues in 2012 with the addition of new equipment and the implementation of training activities for public employees to use these devices.

To date, already have defibrillator Sports Central Hall, the Municipal Pool, Cartagonova Stadium and Security Park, and from next week, these devices will be also installed in the Administration Building on Calle San Miguel , which moves a large volume of people every day, the Palace Hall and the building of the Miraculous.

For the head of Occupational Health and Safety of the City, Antonio Marble, the goal is to improve the safety of municipal staff, but also the public because, in the case of the Palace Hall, although there are few employees, is located in an area with heavy traffic of visitors and tourists, the idea is to have devices of this type around the city.

In order to complete this action, the Prevention and Training Services of the City Council has coordinated the preparation and staff training, as was done in 2011, in which there were two editions of Basic Life Support Course and Semiautomatic Defibrillation, over 2012 will be launched ten other editions.

These training activities are included in the training program of the National Resuscitation of the Spanish Society of Intensive Care Medicine, Critical and Coronary Units (SEMICYUC).

The course consists of 16 class hours, three of these practices and the other theory, taught in two days by professionals in the field.

Along the same, participants learn how to use defibrillators, devices and protocols for action in an emergency and basic techniques of reanimation.

The devices, which run on batteries, have all the necessary elements to deal with cardiac arrest and audible instructions detailing step by step what to do.

For easy identification, are placed within a cabinet as a cabinet, near the entrance of buildings, in places well marked and accessible.
