Isaac Peral Students learn the secrets of pollination (24/01/2012)

Students in 4 of the ESO and Baccalaureate of 1 IES San Isidoro and have more knowledge about pollination.

The agricultural technician Antonio Jimenez has given them a lecture on natural pollination l and biological pest control.

The conference, organized by the Department of Environment, attended the mayor Palazón Carolina.

During the class, Jimenez told students how bees pollinate naturally, why are grown in greenhouses under a red light and why farmers continue to process once they have bee colonies in power and have to visit the flowers with optimal polonización to get quality fruit and vegetables.

à ‰ This is a technique used both in greenhouses and outdoors.

Another issue which was discussed in the talk was the biological control of pests. It is a system in place in Central Europe in the 60's, while pollination with bumblebees appeared in Europe in the 80's and is used in Spain for a decade.

One of the ways to control pests is to use natural enemies. They are used and parasitories bugs, mostly wasps to kill the natural pests in vegetables.

The region is a pioneer in the Community pest control, although in the Canary Islands and Valencia are also used to prevent natural enemies of pests.
