About 2,100 immigrants this year have not renewed their registration in the Register (29/11/2011)

The Municipal Bureau of Statistics shall remove non-EU foreigners who do not update their data processing to be performed every two years, while already released so far in 2011 to 675 new residents

The Municipal Bureau of Statistics and Population has required some 2,100 non-EU citizens resident in Cartagena, before the end of 2011, formalized its renewal in the Census registration, a procedure that should be done every two years to remain registered prerequisite, and that otherwise occurs expiration and are derecognised.

With this action, the City seeks to control population movements that occur in the municipality notifying non-EU immigrants counted in Cartagena that renewal date approaches, first by mail, then again by letter but with acknowledgment of receipt and, finally, if you do not respond, publishing in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia and the Municipal Bulletin Board .

This process takes about six months, although the final number of casualties for revocation may vary since some of these immigrants return to register a few months later, with about 20 percent non-EU discharged, which recover.

By nationality, most of these low, just over half, are Moroccans, followed by Ecuador, Bolivia, Ukraine, Paraguay and Brazil.

As for foreigners from EU countries who have registered in 2011 in the Municipal Register, as of now reach 675, mostly from Morocco (254 entries) and South America (Paraguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru , Brazil), besides India, Ukraine and China.

Ecuadorians NATIONALIZE

Among the data handled by the Municipal Bureau of Statistics, we see that the majority of immigrants who have registered in the Register of Inhabitants of Cartagena in recent years come from Morocco and Ecuador in 2009 amounted figures the 754 Moroccan high and 88 Ecuadorians, and in 2010 were 393 and 42 Moroccan high Ecuadorians.

Curiously, despite the upward trend, mainly in the number of Moroccans surveyed in the municipality, which now reaches 13,898, the number of Ecuadorians has been reduced, increased from 4012 in 2010-3386 this year, and not because they have withdrawn to return to their country of origin, but because they have sought and acquired Spanish citizenship and therefore no longer included in the Register as foreigners.
