The International Film Festival of Cartagena reaches its 40th edition (24/11/2011)

The International Film Festival of Cartagena, which takes place from 11 to 16 December, celebrates its fortieth edition expecting over 11,000 spectators last year, with a luxury program that includes nine premieres nationally in section feature films.

Also keep the rest of regular features such as animated stories, with four lively morning sessions for children, the official section of short films, which this year received 500 works from around the world, among which 14 were selected , and MurCine, space is also reserved for filmmakers of short Murcia.

A Youth Jury, composed by students of the UPCT and UNED, will be responsible for voting on the winning film festival.

As for the films in the official section, the winner will receive the Silver Caravel city of Cartagena, worth 3,000 euros, and MurCine, there will be two awards for the best short films, the first Silver Caravel, endowed with 1,500 euros , and the Award for the second submarine Peral, worth 500 euros.

The Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, along with the president and director of the FICC, Solana and Esther Francisco Baeza, respectively, presented today the new edition of the Festival, but reverts to the Nuevo Teatro Circo as a backdrop, will count for the Closing with a new framework, the Auditorium and Conference Centre The Batel.

Montero reiterated the full support of the City to this event with such a long history and pedigree, so that despite the crisis, will continue to help as far as we can so they do not disappear. Thus, the municipal contribution to the budget of the festival is 80 percent, the rest to private initiative.

Just to thank you for this support, the festival will be given a Silver Caravel, its highest award, the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, and will do so during the closing ceremony.

To heat engines and set the mood of cinema to the city today are launched to promote the festival snacks, such as virtual exhibition includes posters from the 40 editions of the festival as well as photographs of great people who have gone through the same over the years, from Lauren Postigo to Jose Luis Garci.

In addition, on November 25, 2 and 3 December Nights will be held FICC, meetings to promote the festival with music, arts and monologues that will be developed in the Plazza, Fictions and Rockola Café.

Admission for all screenings and events of the festival is free to fill seats, but for the closing ceremony on 16 December, invitations must be removed, also free, which will be available at the box office of the New Theatre Circus.
