The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has signed a decree instituting the honors and record the round designed to be renamed North Victor Avenue Beltrí, in recognition of the Catalan architect, one of the greatest exponents of modernism in Cartagena.

This nomination has been proposed by the commission to the City Council encourages citizen in 2012 commemorating the 150th anniversary of his birth, led by Juan Ignacio Ferrández.

The round north is one of the main access roads to the city.

Built a few years to allow better communication from the neighborhoods with the area north of the town, ranging from the roundabout to The Square Tejeras Severo Ochoa, lacking official name yet.

Victor and Roqueta Beltrí born in Tortosa (Tarragona) in 1862 and died in Cartagena in 1935.

Son of the sculptor José María Beltrí Belilla, trained at the School of Architecture of Barcelona, ​​where it was introduced in the modernist style of the time.

After the first few years of work in Tortosa and Gandia, in 1895, settled in Cartagena, who was living its reconstruction after the Revolution and the cantonal mining boom.

In the 40 years he lived in our city, where he became city architect Victor Beltrí made ​​over 800 projects, making it one of the leading exponents of Modernism.

Among its activities include the Grand Hotel, Casa Cervantes, reform of the Casino, the Palacio Aguirre, the Board of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the rebuilding of the Cathedral of Santa María la Vieja, Villa Calamari, also known as Mansion Versailles Dorda House, Casa Zapata, the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena, Casa Llagostera, the House of Mercy, Park Towers, the facade of the Church of the Pearl District, the Asylum of the Conception, the Hospital Santa Teresa, Children's House and The Blue Hotelito Urrutias.

Despite the importance of this character and its contribution to the rich architectural heritage of the city, his work had not been recognized through the nomination of any street or public space.
