Contentpolis sets in motion a nursery of talent and a Digital Lab (27/10/2011)

The great project of creating the Center for Digital Knowledge and Creativity Studies, Contentpolis, to be located in the industrial area of the Camacho today begins to materialize after the signing of a partnership between all stakeholders, an act that has taken place at the Palace Hall and have staged the city's mayor, Pilar Barreiro, the Minister of Economy and Finance and President of the Integra Foundation, Salvador Marin, the Minister of Universities, Business and Research, José Ballesta, the president of CROEM, Miguel del Toro, the director of INFO CEEIC president, Juan Hernandez, the territorial delegate of Telefónica and the Telefónica Foundation representative, Lloret Angeles and Andres Vicente Gomez on behalf of the Cultural Foundation Media.

The mayor unveiled the key to this project, which is to promote and create employment, training entrepreneurs and professionals in a sector such as the future of digital content, and diversifying the economic fabric of the city looking for new markets.

In this sense, Pilar Barreiro announced that it has constituted a Monitoring Committee and a Technical Committee whose first assignment is to create a Talent Incubator, which will accommodate all audiovisual sector entrepreneurs, and a Digital Content Lab, which will be launched in a month and where you will support research and training in this field, so today we started working on the content provided Contentpolis.

Meanwhile, Marin and Jose Salvador Ballesta emphasized one of the concepts that form the essence of this strategic project, the public-private partnership, which combines the safety of the first with the agility of the second, with the aim of promoting growth and consolidation of the audiovisual sector and to attract and facilitate the implementation of the animation industry and video games by concentrating creativity, technology and productive resources in the same space.

Thus, the seven institutions that have signed today the agreement undertake to carry out various actions to promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge for the development of Contentpolis, with plans to fund an annual meeting of international experts in the audiovisual industry and gaming a forum to promote investment in this sector and a marathon to attract creative talent in digital content.

It also includes a European conference on new trends and the implementation of an Internet TV channel for the dissemination of all projects and events that take place within Contentpolis.

The initial investment for this First Contentpolis is 1,200,000 euros, of which the City provides 450,000 euros.

First Contentpolis includes the development of the first activities of the City of Digital Content in the CEEIC, while building future facilities in Los Camachos, whose physical project is bidding period and year-end award in order to to be completed in mid-2013 with a budget of around six million euros, on land donated by the city of Cartagena.
