The animation project for young people in reading, sponsored by the City of Cartagena, will be presented at the conference organized by way of reading the Ministries of Education and Culture, held in Madrid
Ways of Reading Days, held on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday September 21 at the headquarters of the Pious Schools UNED in Madrid, now have the Cartagena Mandarache Award as the star, with a discussion of the evolution and development of this project to promote reading among young people since it was set in motion six years ago.
This conference, organized by the Ministries of Culture and Education, are aimed at holding simultaneous sessions in which they are exposed and exchange ideas about experiences of activities to encourage reading from various areas of society, hence the project Cartagena has been included in the program.
In this sense, the formula outlined in Mandarache award a literary prize for fiction in Spanish, with the peculiarity that the jury is composed of hundreds of young people between 15 and 30 years of Cartagena who read, discuss and finally vote democratically work winner among three finalists.
Books are provided free by the city of Cartagena to the young, who are organized into committees reading of 6 people each.
In its latest edition, included more than 3,500 readers participating in three lines: adolescents (12-14 years), Youth Literature Prize Hache, Youth (15-30 years), Young Reader Prize Mandarache, and Adults ( over 30 years), reading clubs.
Remember Mandarache is a project of reading promotion organized by the city of Cartagena through its Department of Youth and Culture, with support from the Directorate General of the Book of Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Promotion and Educational Innovation Region of Murcia, Cartagena Polytechnic University and the Foundation Cajamurcia, among others.
