A tasting every twelve meters (16/09/2011)

The works for construction of underground parking on the Avenue of the Americas, continues to fulfill stages.

The first one consisted in the removal of existing trees in central walk of the avenue, followed during these days conducting archaeological surveys to determine if there are Roman remains in the ground.

This is one of the conditions imposed by the City to the concessionaire and are being led by an archaeologist, under the supervision of the Directorate General of Culture of the Autonomous Community.

To this end, the entire surface area of the Avenue of the Americas has been divided into squares whose vertices are distanced from each other twelve meters.

A total of 80 points have been identified in which a drilling machine to take samples of the various layers of soil to a depth five meters, five feet below the elevation that will occupy the parking lot.

The surveys began to be held this week and already have 35 of the 80 programs.

It is expected to be completed next week.

Then all samples will be analyzed to verify the existence of remains of the Roman road out of town towards the lagoon bordering Torreciega Almarjal.

On the other hand, are already planted in its new location the 20 ficus trees that were removed from the midway, after being trimmed.

Copies have been placed on the extension of the greenway, near the Mall Mandarache.
