The Region of Murcia hosts these days more than 2,000 young pilgrims from around the world, on their way to Madrid to attend the celebration of World Youth Day, 16 to August 21, coinciding with the pope's visit Benedict XVI to the Spanish capital.

And some of these young people are in Cartagena, where they were welcomed by families and organizations, taking advantage of his stay in the city to know its rich culture and customs.

Thus, volunteers organizing the event have been with 170 young Slovenes to visit historical sights of the city, as the Palace Hall, the Municipal Archaeological Museum Enrique Escudero de Castro, the Roman Theater and several downtown churches, like Santa Maria or Santo Domingo.

These visits are among the activities planned by the Diocese of Cartagena, with the help of 549 volunteers across the region.
