Pilar Barreiro, more women voted in Spain as a candidate to preside over a municipality (24/05/2011)

The PP candidate for the fifth consecutive time elected mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, the woman has been voted in Spain as a candidate to preside over a city among all cities over 100,000 inhabitants and becomes the fourth candidate among all candidates.

Thus, with the support of 58.33% of voters Cartagena Popular Party, Barreiro list becomes the third of the country with more backing in the classification of cities.

The first three are also opting PP mayors re-election, has been the top-ranked Peter Roll, Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), with 68.53% of the vote and has gone from 14 to 21 council members, the second, the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, with 60.71% (plus most votes is the ruler of the municipalities with over 200,000 inhabitants), and the third, the ruler of Almería, Luis Rogelio Rodríguez Comendador, which his third term facing wrapped by 58.5%.

Barreiro is the mayor of Cartagena for the fifth consecutive time, demonstrating that the Cartagena have relied on the Popular Party and the government project that has taken place in the last 16 years.

The People's Party Cartagena validates and expands its absolute majority with a total of 19 councilors, three more than in the previous legislature.

It is recalled that in the general elections of 2008, the bid led by Pilar Barreiro popular, was the most voted in Spain, getting a historic result in the Region of Murcia.

In no other region of Spain the PP reached many votes.

The PP won seven deputies in the Congress of Deputies and first exceeded 61% of the votes received by a political party in the region.
