Cuban Poetry reading in the House Dorda (12/05/2011)

This year the Festival Mucho Mas Mayo approaches the Cuban poetry recital entitled ZOOM CUBA.

The inner courtyard of the Casa Dorda, will be the framework in which the young poet Milena Rodríguez (Havana, Cuba, 1971) recite their poems the other hand, Alice in the already seen and the day our daily bread.

The poet will be accompanied by a delightful live music by the Cuban also Rosa Cruz (Havana, Cuba 1971), the essence of contemporary Cuban poetry, the soul of Cuba.

The event, on Friday 13 May at 20.00 hours s, will be coordinated by Javier Marín Ceballos and is a very special opportunity to visit the courtyard of one of the most beautiful and interesting buildings of Cartagena, privately owned and long time closed for renovations. Dorda House (1908) is a personal Beltrí Victor Building, one of the most important modernist architects of that next year marks the 150 anniversary of his birth, and who have been the original samples work on many landmark buildings in the city.

Commissioned by the wealthy mining family Dorda, the building features a façade on Calle del Carmen, one of the most baroque Beltrí, which combines the usual viewpoint with a large balcony, with curved tops and moldings decorated with floral motifs, and by the neo-Arab courtyard with horseshoe arches on the ground and the windows framed and decorating tiles, walls and unique geometric designs, as well as a source, plus other elements such as rolling staircase that allows access to the upper floor.
