The Way of Syphon be improved with two new roundabouts and the elimination of a curve (26/04/2011)

Local Government Board has approved this morning by the road upgrading project of the siphon in its first phase, with a budget of one million euros.

As explained Councillor for Infrastructure, José Vicente Albaladejo, at the end of the meeting, it is starting to turn this agricultural service road, used daily by hundreds of drivers on a road.

Albaladejo has said the lengthy administrative process followed so far, which have had to resolve problems of ownership, flooding the area and provision of land.

The first phase will seek to improve the key points of this infrastructure and focus on the stretch between the junction of Mill Road Demolished and the former railway track.

Thus the project includes the improvement of the firm and correction levels to prevent flooding in this circuit, as well as the construction of two new roundabouts and the removal of a curve.

Two new roundabouts will be constructed: one in the Siphon crossroads with the road linking the roundabout, the Circle of Santa Ana with Derribao Mill and another at the junction with the road from El Bohio.

The other important action that will lead to the elimination of the curve that passes under the old route of the railway, which is one of the sticking points that floods.

This will correct the current path and provide a straight, eliminating the railroad embankment.

The period of execution of this work, which now must be engaged, is estimated at six months.

José Vicente Albaladejo thanked the cooperation that has been found at any time in the Community of Irrigators of Campo de Cartagena, the current owners of the road and his total willingness to cede land to change its path.

NEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF ROADS

Another of the resolutions adopted by the Governing Board has been a new agreement with the Community of Irrigators for sign maintenance and repair of agricultural service roads, which are used by drivers to reach their destinations before.

The agreement includes an annual municipal contribution of 40,000 euros in 2011 and 2012, extended until 2014.

The irrigators will another 40,000 euros each year, and they will be responsible for implementing the work.
