David Huertas Rosa Monteagudo and win the prize and Hache Mandarache 2011 (11/04/2011)

Cartagena young readers have had the last word to choose the winners of the sixth edition of the award and third Mandarache Hache Award.

The awards can claim to be the most democratic of Spanish letters by a jury consisting of about 3,000 mainly young readers in schools and institutes of the municipality.

The results of voting, which is made through the official website of the project between 4 and 7 April, has been unveiled this morning by a group of students from IES Cartagena Mediterranean, accompanied by the Councillor for Youth, Ruth Maria Collado.

Fin, David Monteagudo has finally lifted the VI Mandarache Award after being chosen by 40% of young voters who participated as a juror in this democracy literature.

In the case of Hache Award (the mode of juvenile literature) Bad moon, Huertas Rosa has been the award in the most contested vote history Hache Award, having surpassed the novel by Miguel Sandin, File Pania, a single vote.

The jury is composed of 2,011 Mandarache almost two thousand young people between 15 and 30 years and Hache Award for more than a thousand adolescents between 12 and 14.

Since September 2010 these thousands of readers (high school students, college students, youth associations and registered for free) have read and discussed novels that provided them free the city of Cartagena and were able to meet the three authors finalists for each award talk to them, ask questions and share your impressions before the time came to vote.

Category awards have a prize of 3,000 euros respectively and a sculpture by à ngel Haro, and will be delivered by the mayor of Cartagena to the winning writers on Wednesday May 4 in the Nuevo Teatro Circo Cartagena, in a ceremony led by Luisma Soriano and Nieves Pérez Abad.

During the awards ceremony will be unveiled the finalists for the next edition.

Mandarache prize is an original strategy to promote reading among young people created by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena and public libraries and developed from the work of an advocacy group that integrates the efforts of teachers, booksellers, publishers associations of parents of students, libraries, leaders, youth associations and youth participants, and is producing excellent results in their quest to create new young readers.

Mandarache program has become just seven years one of the models to promote innovative and effective reading of Spain.
