As in previous years, the Municipal Institute of Social Services to the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena joins the celebration of International Roma Day, on Friday 8 April.
On this occasion, is the Barrio Virgen de la Caridad the venue for the celebrations that they will start at 11.30 am in the Plaza of Human Rights, with assistance from the Social Care Councillor of the City of Cartagena, Antonio Calderon and CEO of Pension and social inclusion programs, Juan Castaño López.
Activities will begin with the reception of guests and the exhibition of an exhibition of themes and allegories on the Roma.
Then proceed to the delivery of pins with the flag of the Roma people who have developed voluntary International Association of Charities of Cartagena, better known as the Vincentian.
Then Councilman intervene Social Care and CEO of social inclusion programs, they will devote a few words prior to reading the Manifesto of the Roma that will be delivered by a member of the Gypsy community.
Also hear the gypsy song (Gelem Gelem), and will take the traditional rite of candles and flowers, which will be deposited, inter alia, a red carnation as a tribute to the Gypsy people.
The Municipal Institute of Social Services adds another year to the celebration of the International Roma Day, when institutionalized since the First Congress of Roma people, which took place in London in 1971.
