The City Council operates a new public park behind the UNED (10/03/2011)

The Planning Commission's information, gathered this morning under the chairmanship of the council of the area, Joaquín Segado, has ruled favorably, with the abstention of PSOE and Citizen Movement, the final approval of the amendment number 135 of the General Plan, aimed at creating of a new public park of 14,800 square meters in the Eixample-almarjal.

The amendment, which has now reached its final stage, which began in October last year, includes the urban development of a parcel of 26,800 square meters, located behind the center of the UNED, the streets Sóller, Ciudadela and Mahon.

Of these, 14,790 will be used for public park, 5,600, endowments and tertiary uses, and the remainder by road.

Under this amendment, the owners surrendered the land to the City Park, already developed, and roads, facts.

The commission also ruled favorably, among other things, the tentative approval of the amendment number 134 of the General Plan to fund the arrival of the AVE to the city.

The amendment was approved initially by the full City Council in December 2010 and aims to increase the buildable initially agreed with the rail infrastructure manager, ADIF, as it will go from the initially requested 46,000 meters in 2006 to 63,000 has set as needed to finance the work of burying the last section of the line (from the bridge of Torreciega) and the construction of a new station with a capacity to accommodate the arrival in the city of high-speed trains (AVE) .

Upon approval by the full City Council, the Autonomous Community must give final approval.
