Hache receives Award Eliacer Cansino, last National Prize of Literature for Children and Youth (08/03/2011)

The writer visited Cartagena Cansino Eliacer Seville on Wednesday March 9 to present his novel Ok, Mr. Foster (Edelvives, 2009), in several meetings with readers between 12 and 14 who make up the jury's democratic Hache Youth Literature Award, which organized by the Youth Council.

Eliacer Cansino, Professor of Philosophy and high school teacher, is a renowned writer who has just received the National Prize for Children's Literature for his novel A Room in Babel (Anaya, 2010).

The author will appear at 10.30 hours with the media in the exhibition hall on the ground floor of the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy, and then meet at 11:00 am in the hall, with high school students .

In the afternoon the same day to discuss his novel with young people in the Intercultural Center for Children in a special collaboration between Hache Award and the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena.

Eliacer Cansino is the last of the authors finalists for this year's Award Hache visiting the city, prize for racing Rosa Huertas and Miguel Sandin, who have been here in December and January.

Hache Prize will fail, as Mandarache Award, by popular vote through the project website www.premiomandarache.es during the first week of April.

THE AUTHOR

Eliacer Cansino (Sevilla, 1954) studied philosophy at the Universities of Seville and Salamanca, and is Professor of Philosophy and Head of the Department in the German Mateo IES San Juan de Aznalfarache.

He is the author of Landscape Book of Shadows (Tomares, 1988), The Wonderful Mr. Plot (Júcar, 1988), Caro's eyes (Toledo, 1991), Behind the eyes of the heron (Clearwater, 1993), Portraits opponents (Córdoba, 1991), I, Robinson Sánchez, having sunk (Toray, 1992; Everest, 1998), A traveler, a city (fund.As Luis Cernuda, 1995), The metamorphosis of Avellaneda (Huerta and Fierro, 1998) , The mystery Velázquez (Bruno, 1998), Cloud and children (Anaya, 2000), the umbrella poetic (Everest, 2003) and Pascal's wager (Alianza, 2004).

He has participated in several anthologies, mostly short fiction.

It has been translated into German, and his book The Mystery Velázquez is currently being translated into Japanese and Korean.

He has received numerous awards, both poetry (Poetry Juan Mountains in 1988, Ricardo Molina Prize in 1991), as stories (Premio Jaén in 1990, Emilio Hurtado Story in 1991), novella (City of Toledo in 1990) young adult novel (Infanta Elena International Award in 1992).

In 1997 he won the Lazarillo by Mystery Velazquez, a work that was also a finalist for the National Children's and Youth Literature in 1999.

This book was also chosen among the 100 best works of juvenile literature of the twentieth century by Sánchez Rupérez Germain Foundation.

Was represented as a play in the Alcazar of Seville in 1999.

He has participated in many seminars on narrative, literary, children's literature, reading promotion, and has given lectures, talks and courses in Spain and New York (at the Cervantes Institute in that city).

He also participates regularly in daily newspapers (is a columnist for Diario de Sevilla), and specialized journals in literature (Mercury, for example) and in children's literature.

THE BOOK

Ok, Mr. Foster (Edelvives, 2009).

Motherless, Perico lives with his father, a reclusive character sailor in the Umbrian town of Huelva.

His life is spent in the seemingly peaceful atmosphere, but deeply suffocating Francoist society.

Something starts to change when Mr. Foster, a British photographer who has come there hired by the mining company Rio Tinto, and Ismael, a tanner of skins everyone suspicious.

They will help to raise their critical consciousness, however, his ingenuity will be involved in a smuggling adventure that will change the course of its existence.
