Cartagena hosts first seminar Day García y Bellido (17/02/2011)

Next Friday, February 25 Museum Roman Theatre of Cartagena will host the seminar

García y Bellido Day, an annual event that has never before been held in our city and aims to remind the teacher of Spanish archeology and common stitches on new techniques and advances in this field.

The meeting will be in the Auditorium of the Theatre Museum between 9.30 am and 18.30 hours in the afternoon.

The seminar is aimed at graduates and students of History, Archaeology, Architecture, Arts and Tourism, as well as anyone interested in the topic and the general public to complete a capacity of 80 seats.

The day begins with presentations by Albert Ribera Lacomba, Chief Municipal Archaeological Research of Valencia, José Uroz, Professor of Ancient History at the University of Alicante, Lorenzo Abad Casal, Professor of Archaeology at the University of Alicante, and Sebastian Ramallo Asensio, Professor of Archaeology at the University of Murcia.

In the afternoon we will visit the Museum and Roman Theatre, accompanied by its director, Elena Ruiz Valdez, then a visit to the Archaeological Park of the windlass, the excavation director, José Miguel Noguera and other members of the research team University of Murcia.

This seminar on Museo del Teatro Cartagena Cartagena Roman wanted to join in collaboration with the University of Murcia, the cast of scientific institutions for more than two decades been organizing this event uninterrupted discussion, updating and revision of Archaeology Classic, where the extensive work of Professor García Bellido serves as a starting point.

Among the many lines of research by Professor García y Bellido include works devoted to the Roman foundations in Hispania and its legal status, an issue to which he devoted a substantial article published in the Yearbook of the History of Spanish Law in 1959, and which decomposed section on the colonies of Southeast in the Tribute to Mergelina Cayetano, published by the University of Murcia 50 years ago.

The present edition of this study and debate on historical issues and urban development of these four cities in the southeast corner of the Spanish-Carthago Noua, Ilici, Valentia and Libisosa, "in light of the findings epigraphic, archaeological and numismatic and new studies conducted in recent years.
