The local police checked trucks and vans (11/02/2011)

From Monday until February 20, agents conducted a surveillance campaign in the municipality to ensure that such vehicles meet the technical requirements and the speed limits

Cartagena Local police reported the launch a special campaign of surveillance and control of trucks and vans, which will take place between 14 and 20 February.

The aim is to avoid accidents that are involved this type of vehicle, for which the campaign will pay special attention agents, in addition to speed, to the technical and safety features of vehicle weight and conditioning load, tire condition and proper operation of the lighting.

In addition, we must remember that failure to speed limits from these types of trucks and vans are classified as serious or very serious, with loss of between 2 and 6 points, depending on the task speeding and other hand, the consumption of alcohol at rates higher than those permitted drivers for the carriage of goods, is a very serious offense penalized with the loss of up to 6 points from driving.

DETAILS OF LOSS IN 2009

During 2009 there were 11,688 accidents on our roads with victims who were involved vans and trucks over 3,500 kg maximum permissible mass (MMA).

In these accidents killed a total of 754 persons, of whom 243 were occupants of such vehicles and 222 passengers were traveling in other vehicles.

According to the Directorate General of Traffic, in this type of accident is multiplied by three the possibility of fatalities occur.
