UPyD proposes the installation of a camera obscura in the "Castillo de la Concepción" as one of the highlights of Puerto de Culturas (05/02/2011)

UPyD regrets that the city of Cartagena has not taken steps to revitalize our unique viewpoint and Torres Park, on the contrary, has again demonstrated significant gaps in the monitoring of certain areas of the park

The initiative of the "Camera Obscura" would be a large influx of people due to its privileged location and balcony overlooking the entire city and the harbor basin.

Facility would not be too expensive compared with other projects that jeopardize the resources of the Consistory, and the benefits would be endless, mainly tourism and economic, as in other towns where these cameras have been installed, such as Cadiz, Jerez or Sevilla

The operation of the Camera Obscura is simple, but the visual impact of that surprise the visitor.

This produces an image onto a white screen horizontal curve, as a table, located in the center of a totally darkened room, painted black.

The projected image is in color, very light and reflects what is taking place outside of the tower, at the same instant (real and moving images), during sessions of 15 minutes.

Because of the long focal length of the main lens, the result is a beautiful optical effect that makes objects located very far seem pretty close.

The screen goes up and down so you can focus at different distances.

The images in the Camera Obscura can rotate forward and backward to view the different parts of the landscape.

You can see over the horizon at a distance or under him to discuss details.

The Candidate UPyD, Fulgencio Egea think you need to retrieve one of the main hills of our three millennium old and the Camera Obscura Project and undertakes to take the necessary steps that enable everyone to any residents of Cartagena and Cartagena to visit our Heritage the cost of 1 € per person, thus promoting continuity in visits to our past and recent history.
