The PP of Cartagena and the School of Charity Fathers stressed the need for coordination of all to reach more people in need (22/01/2011)

"We want to hear your concerns, opinions and demands to improve the social problems that exist in our city," said Councilman Antonio Calderon at a meeting held between the Social Care Committee of the PP with members of the Parents' School of Charity.

The meeting took place on Friday at the headquarters of Caritas Cartagena, and in it, the participants discussed what are the initiatives necessary to meet more effectively the growing demand for social assistance, caused by the economic crisis throughout Spanish.

The councilman said that "the crisis we should not take away the illusion, and we must work with greater effort and efficiency to reach more people, despite the resources at our disposal are lower."

Both Calderón and members of this group emphasized the need for coordination among all entities of social action and the various administrations, as well as some control in the distribution of resources, "we must know what services and supports are most demanded, and even know the reality of each person who needs our help. "

In addition, it highlighted the lack of socio-health coordination, "it is necessary that hospitals who have made volunteer work, especially with the elderly, many of these people live alone and need our help," said one of the attendees.

Among other issues, the council welcomed the strong support of Caritas to all projects carried out by the Social Service Department of the City of Cartagena, and strive to improve the poverty situation of many families.
