The Great Tennis Trophy CajaMurcia Region brings 180 international players (20/01/2011)

Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gomez, accompanied by the Director General of Sports, Antonio Peñalver, the president of Tennis Federation of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Garcia, presented this morning at the Palace Hall the XXV edition of Futures International Circuit ATP Tennis Grand Trophy Cajamurcia.

From 29 January, a total of 180 players from the five continents will participate in three tournaments organized by the participating clubs: Tennis Club Murcia, Real Sociedad and Country Club Tennis Club Cartagena.

About 64 players will contest the preliminary and the final 32, including the winner of last year's Grand Trophy Cajamurcia, Gabriel Trujillo.

In addition, a total of 84 players enrolled in the international circuit have been left at the gates and will become part of a list of reserves, as reported by the chairman of the Regional Federation of Tennis, successful participation is interpreted as a sign of confidence in world tennis circuit in this region.

The tournament, which will distribute 40,000 in prizes, highlighted by the internationalization of the participants, 30% from outside Spain, compared with 70% of national players.

The Tennis Tournament Cartagena, to be held from 12 to 19 February will be an unparalleled commitment to the sport in our city, as explained by the Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gómez.
